PANTHEON. THE SUNDAY OF THE ROSES
Every year on the occasion of the Pentecost, a solemn Mass is celebrated in the Pantheon, with the evocative sound of Gregorian chants and the procession of priests dressed in purple.
The Mass ends with a spectacular and very ancient event, the cascade of rose petals, which descend from the oculus of the dome to symbolize the arrival of the Holy Spirit.
The origins of this ceremony and much more about the symbolic meaning of the Pantheon are explained in detail in our book «Pantheon Architecture & Light» as well as the thousand-year history of the building.
